Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies (GTCYS) is a US music organization based in Minnesota.
In the conviction that music nourishes the body, mind, and spirit of the individual and enriches the community, the Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies provides a rigorous and inspiring orchestral experience for young musicians. Its aim is to transforms young musicians of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds by breaking down barriers to music instruction and providing exceptional year-round orchestral experiences. The fascinations of literature combined with the beauty of a unique place in the world. It is the perfect combination of Taobuk, an international literary festival that brings together the tradition of Taormina as the cosmopolitan capital of literature and arts, a refuge for eccentric and excellent personalities such as Tennessee Williams, Truman Capote, Picasso, Richard Strauss.
The Festival is conceived and directed by Antonella Ferrara.
Every year Taobuk chooses a theme around which the calendar of meetings takes shape with the help of authoritative writers, thinkers and artists, in a tight flow of ideas and novelties.
At the core of the festival there is literature seen through the point of view of international writers. Taobuk’s program, however, is also embellished with exhibitions, theatrical performances, dance pieces and film retrospectives shown in evocative locations: first and foremost the Ancient Theatre, along with the city’s palaces and major hotels.

The exhibition will show half-known or even never exhibited works from remote hermitages, rarely open churches, sacristies and museum warehouses of Sicily.
The pieces of art are borrowed by the MuMe (Interdisciplinary Regional Museum) of Messina, the Fra ‘Gianmaria da Tusa Museum in Gibilmanna, the Zelantea Art Gallery in Acireale, the Civic Museum of Castroreale and the convents of Adrano, Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto, Castroreale, Catania, Francavilla of Sicily, Gibilmanna, Messina, Milazzo, Mistretta, Naso, Pettineo, Randazzo, Tortorici, Tusa and Troina. Among the artist- the best known names are Scipione Pulzone, Durante Alberti, Giovanni Lanfranco, Mathias Stomer, Guglielmo Borremans, Onofrio Gabrieli, Giacinto Platania and the Feliciano da Messina and Umile da Messina friars.

Making global pop-opera sensation Il Volo performs again at the Ancient Greek-Roman Theatre of Taormina.
l Volo is a group of three (unconventional) teenage boys that came to fame in Italy after appearing on the Italian talent show “Ti Lascio Una Canzone”.
They were promptly snapped up by the leading people in the music industry in Italy and their debut album quickly went platinum. Like Andrea Bocelli before them, they are Italians set for the international stage. Their appearance on American Idol in 2011 caused a frenzy of first week sales for the lads with further plans to launch themselves elsewhere in the world. Their appeal is definitely their quirky image coupled with their unexpectedly mature vocals. They cover old ground in the classical crossover sphere, but they certainly package it in a new and exciting way. With undeniably strong voices and impeccable charm, Il Volo are hard to resist.

On the first anniversary of his death, a homage to the great Maestro Franco Battiato
Franco Battiato (23 March 1945 – 18 May 2021) was a Sicilian singer-songwriter, composer, filmmaker and, under the pseudonym Süphan Barzani, also a painter. Battiato’s songs contain esoteric, philosophical and religious themes, and have spanned genres such as experimental pop, electronic music, progressive rock, opera, symphonic music, movie soundtrack, oratorio and new wave.
He was for decades one of the most popular singer-songwriters in Italy. His unique sound, song-crafting and especially his lyrics, often containing philosophical, religious, and culturally exotic references, as well as tackling or painting universal themes about the human condition earned him a unique spot on Italy’s music scene, and the nickname of “Il Maestro”. His work includes songwriting and joint production efforts with several Italian and international musicians and pop singers, including the long-lasting professional relationship with Italian singer Alice. Together with Alice, Battiato represented Italy at the 1984 Eurovision Song Contest with the song “I treni di Tozeur”.

A Red Cross fundraising for Ukraine
On the stage the Ukrainian pianist Botvinov and the Latvian violinist Gidon Kremer together with the Lithuanian NICO, New Ideas Chamber Orchestra and the Taormina Plectrum Orchestra.
This event was originally scheduled to take place at the Opera House of Kiev on April 14th 2022
With Botvinov – a virtuoso of the piano and one of the greatest performers of Bach and Rachmaninov – and the NICO, a chamber orchestra that will perform pieces by the contemporary Lithuanian composer Gelgotas, on the stage of the Ancient Theater will also be one of the greatest contemporary violinists, the Latvian Gidon Kremer, and the Taormina Plectrum Orchestra directed by M° Antonino Pellitteri with its repertoire dedicated to the music of Ennio Morricone for an ideal embrace between Ukraine, Lithuania, Latvia and Italy in the name of a universal peace.
