Mario Biondi (born on 28 January 1971) is an Italian singer known for his deep and warm voice that recalls the great interpreters of soul and rhythm and blues music.
Born in Catania (Sicily-Italy), the son of a popular song singer, during his youth sang in various small choirs. Years after he accompanied Franco Califano, Peppino Di Capri, Fred Bongusto, Rosario Fiorello and others on their Concert tours. After a long series of participations with Italian and international artists and a small production of disco music, during 2006 he achieved success with the album Handful of Soul.
“DARE”
The “Dare” project consists of a total of 16 tracks: 10 original songs, 2 remixes and 4 reinterpretations of great international hits such as “Strangers in the Night”, made famous by Frank Sinatra, “Cantaloupe Island” by Herbie Hancock, Eddie Jefferson’s “Jeannine” and “Someday We’ll All Be Free”, a jazz reinterpretation of Donny Hathaway’s soul anthem.
The digital version of the album contains “Show Some Compassion”, a song recorded with many colleagues during the lockdown in support of the redevelopment project of the Messina slum area (Sicily) promoted by the A.ris.mè association, and the two remixes of “ Cantaloupe Island ”by DJ Meme and Piparo.
The cover, created by Paolo De Francesco, portrays Mario with behind him the famous “winged” mural by Colette Miller, a visual artist and performer author of the “Angel Wings” project.
