when Homeric Poems meet the Sicilian Puppet Theatre

The charm of the old Greek Poem meets the Opera dei Pupi, the old tradition of Sicilian puppet theatre.
Mimmo Cuticchio brings the Iliad to the Ancient Theatre of Taormina with tales, puppets, and music. The show is staged and directed by Mimmo Cuticchio, master of the Opera dei Pupi and one of the most authoritative interpreters of contemporary epic narrative.
The show retraces some of the most intense moments of the Homeric epic, reenacting the conflict of Troy through the language of tales, puppets, and theater, in a blend of words, music, and tradition that renews the universal value of Homer’s masterpiece. The performance is part of the Taormina Arte Sicilia Foundation’s summer program.
