58th editon of the TAORMINA FILM FEST
Taormina Film Fest, a historic film festival, and Italy’s oldest, began in 1955. It is a competitive event screening film previews, independent features, documentaries, shorts and tributes to filmmakers of the past.

The Festival will be followed by the Nastri D’Argento award

The Taormina Film Fest, which moved permanently to Taormina in 1971, has hosted over the years many stars of international cinema: Elizabeth Taylor, Marlene Dietrich, Sofia Loren, Cary Grant, Robert De Niro, Colin Firth, Marlon Brando, Charlton Heston, Audrey Hepburn, Gregory Peck, Tom Cruise, Melanie Griffith, Monica Bellucci, Oliver Stone and Antonio Banderas, among others.
The Festival is an “A” Festival in FIAP accreditation.

“Spirit of Two Islands: Terra Australis  – Terra Sicula”

Frederick William “Billy” Doolan Jnr (also known as Billy Doo, 1952-) is an Australian Indigenous artist who lives in Townsville, Queensland.

 The exhibition will show 9 works of the “Sicilian Dreaming” series realised by Doolan in August 2009 when he spent nearly four weeks travelling across Sicily on a cross-cultural exchange to paint the country in the Aboriginal style.
Doolan imports the impressions of the Sicilian nature into his Aborigine myths.

The exhibition is part of an ICSA project. The I. C. S. A. (Institute of Culture Sicily Australia) is an organization that promotes cultural bridges between Sicily and Australia as well as events of relevance to both countries.

Mirko Malambrì belongs to a family of photographers of Taormina. He inherited from his father and grandfather the passion for the camera and something like 140,000 photographs.

In this black annd white exhibition he gives an “how we were” overview of  Taormina.
