Giolì & Assia are a young female Italian duo both producers, multi-instrumentalists, songwriters, record label owners, and DJs, creating music that blends the styles of singers, pop electronic, house, indie, and dance that is uniquely their own. Giolì plays the piano, cello, drums, guitar, and handpan, and Assia handles lead vocal duties as well as the guitar. They are best known for their #DiesisLive sessions they put out monthly, each shot in beautiful locations worldwide. The viral video of them performing on top of an active volcano at the Aeolian Islands in Sicily, Italy amassed over 18 million views and counting. Since their debut, the Italian multi-hyphenates have achieved consistent success garnering over 78 million YouTube streams, 9.8 million-plus Spotify streams and coveted spots on Spotify playlists such as “Mint,” “Dance Rising,” and “New Music Friday Italia.” They recently released their EP, Moon Faces via Ultra Records in February 2021, which features lead singles “For You” and “Your Lullaby.” With more new music and artist collaborations on the way, 2021 is set to be nothing short of spectacular.

The award comes during the gala evening of the Nations Award, the film award founded in the 1970s as part of the international film festival of Messina and Taormina.
Comedian Uccio De Santis, Romanian model and actress Madalina Diana Ghenea, godmother of the Nations Award 2025 and actress Elisabetta Pellini will be on stage during the evening.

Such is the alchemy of Taobuk that brings the excellence of literature, the arts and thought to Taormina, a unique place in the world, a crossroads between western and eastern culture.
The Festival, born twelve years ago, from an intuition of Antonella Ferrara who presides and directs it,
embraces the vocation of receiving the “literary sediments” of the city, synthesis of a history that coagulates events, myths, experiences, traditions. Every year, Taobuk chooses a theme around which a calendar of meetings revolve, with the participation of authoritative writers, artists, philosophers and scientists. The kermesse has taken on a multidisciplinary configuration and the programme is embellished with exhibitions, theatre and dance performances, film retrospectives, in evocative locations of which the most representative is the Ancient Theatre, together with palaces, corners and large hotels.

Over 200 writers, artists, scientists, intellectuals, politicians and economists from more than 30 countries around the world will discuss on “BOUNDARIES. Guests include writers Peter Cameron, Joe R. Lansdale and Susanna Tamaro, who are among the recipients of the Taobuk award for literary excellence. The Taobuk Awards will be presented on the evening of June 21 at the Teatro Antico in Taormina during the Taobuk Gala, a show that will be broadcast on Rai1, the first free-to-air television channel in Italy.
